As you know last fall I tried to go to LSU for school. After a lot of drama with a transcript, that plan didn't work out and I ended up going to UNO for the fall semester.

Well, after a lot of waiting, following up, etc., I found out that I was accepted to LSU for the fall semester!!!!

Yes, FINALLY, I am going to get to pursue my education at the school I want to pursue it at! I am thrilled beyond words and can't wait to get up 2 weeks.

Hubs and I applied for married student housing and got our first choice of apartments. Now has begun the crazy process of getting everything ready. All of our furniture we stored for the past 9 months? Too big. Read: we need all new furniture - in 2 weeks. Which is a lot of fun in the I get to pick it all out and move on from our hand-me-downs. But, it does kind of hurt to spend all of the money. But, you have to do what you have to do, right?

Our next two weeks are going to be crazy. Lots of shopping, packing and unpacking. I have orientation on August 16th. Classes start on August 20th and I want the house ready to go by orientation. And, we have to make a trip to Houston. The furniture we want is at Ikea and the one in Houston is the closest. So, we're renting a cargo van and driving over there. It also means I get to see my grandparents for a couple of days, which will be nice.

I can't believe that this is finally happening. I am just so excited. I don't even have the words to tell you. I could sum this whole post up in lines and lines of exclamation points, but as that would be boring, I'm just going to finish it up with this:

Playing With Parker

I'm a very lucky aunt. I get to watch my niece, Parker, almost every week. Not to mention, we frequently get to hang out with Parker on the weekends and stuff with family. I know just how blessed I am to be able to build such a great relationship with my niece from such a young age.

Since I get to watch Parker so much, we have had the chance to develop a couple of games we play that we really enjoy. The first I'm going to show you is 52 Pick Up.

I don't remember how 52 pick up day I made the cards fly at her and she loved it! Isn't that how it always starts? We can do this for awhile before she gets bored of it. Recently we've had 2 developments. I was over there on a Wednesday babysitting her and she walked over to the table, opened up the drawer with the cards in it and handed them to me. The other things is she'll start handing me cards after they're in a pile around's so neat to see that she wants to play this game with me!

The other thing we do is bounce her play eggs in my skirt.
This is another game that she now lets me know she wants to play. She'll grab the eggs and toss them in my skirt when I 'm sitting on the floor. Sometimes, she'll even grab my skirt and bounce the eggs herself. If I'm not wearing the official skirt - it's time to use my shirt! This is probably my favorite game we play and I know I'll be sad when we stop playing it!

I really, really enjoy spending so much time with Parker. Sadly, now that I work at the spa I don't get to watch her as much so each time I watch her is so much more special. I can't believe how big she's getting and I'm so excited about where my relationship with her can go as she gets older...but for right now, I want to remember these little things because they're just so special to me!

{Oh, and I just decided...the egg bouncing game will be named "eggs in a basket" just because is so ridiculous cute!}

Research In All It's Glory

So, blog posts for me frequently begin with an idea. And then that leads to a little research. You know, finding the appropriate youtube video or like to include in the post. And that almost always leads to me finding something so entertaining that I just have to share it.

Well, a couple of weeks ago, I was working through some clips of Glee on youtube. That was going wonderfully well. I was entirely off track and not actually getting any blogging done. And then, I found this.

To quote the hubs: "No wonder it took so long to find Bin Laden."

Ok. Let's add this quick disclaimer before you start talking about how horrible I am - I am very patriotic. I am very proud to live in America. I am extremely proud of our troops, no matter the political powers that be. Our military men and women deserve so much respect for protecting the freedoms that are provided in the constitution and I am indebted to them beyond words.

I also happen to have friends and family who have served overseas and who serve here at home and knowing them, they would find this - and the comment - hilarious. So, just enjoy it all for what it is. The toughest men out there. Dancing. To Glee.

Sunday Social {vol 6}

Sunday Social

I am going to back track and do last weeks Sunday Social post soon, but first, I have to do this weeks...but this weeks Sunday Social post is all about vacation and I LOVE vacation and traveling and planning to vacation, and thinking about where I one day may want to vacation...and well you get the point, I LOVE vacation!

Best trip you've been on?
In April of 2011, the hubs and I took off on a 10 day long trip. We went to see my family and then the real fun started. We went to Austin, Dallas, Oklahoma, St. Louis and then headed home. It was AMAZING! We had so much fun on the road together, drank Dr Pepper in Dublin, Texas, finished Interestate 44, snuck our toes into Kansas, saw the Gateway Arch, and just had so much fun together. For the rest of our lives vacations will be measured to that trip!
Hubs and I under the Gateway Arch in St. Louis!

Best idea for a girls trip?
I'd love to say beach - I LOVE the beach. I can snuggle up in a chair under an umbrella and spend all day there. Seriously, most relaxing thing ever. But, so many girls I know prefer sitting next to a pool...that doesn't do it for me. So, I'll go with idea number 2 - The 3 Ss of being a woman - Socializing, Shopping and Spas. It would be a trip where we would do all 3 of those things!

Best idea for a couples trip?
This might not be true for a lot of couples but for hubs and I, it's anything where we hit the road for a week or more at a time! We always have so much fun hanging out in the car and we love seeing the sights along the way. We like to do the same things when we travel so this works so well for us! We haven't tallied it up in awhile but I know we've traveled over 12,000 miles together in the time we've been married.

Best vacation on the cheap?
Hubs and I don't travel well on the cheap. We believe in go big or go home where vacations are concerned and have chosen not to travel if we can't do it the way we like. But, if we are keeping it semi cheap we'll go visit our friends in North Carolina. We don't have to pay for a place to stay and that always help!

Place you want to visit the most?
I separate this into two categories. U.S.A. and worldwide.
U.S.A.: New York City

Worldwide: Panama Canal

Book Club Friday

This week I'm reviewing a book I got from Blogging from Books. Wildflowers From Winter.

Find on Amazon
{The Back Cover Says}
A young architect at a prestigious Chicago firm, Bethany Quinn has built the life she dreamed of during her trailer-park teen years. An expected call from her estranged mother reveals that tragedy has struck in her hometown and a reluctant Bethany is called back to rural Iowa.

Determined to pay her respects to her past while avoiding any emotional entanglements, she vows not to stay long. The unexpected inheritance of five hundred acres of farmland and a startling turn of events in Chicago forces Bethany to come up with a new plan.

Handsome farmhand Evan Price has taken care of the Quinn farm for years. When Bethany is left the land, Evan must fight her decisions to realize his own dreams. But even as he disagrees with Bethany's vision, Evan feels drawn to her and the pain she keeps so carefully locked away.

For Bethany, making peace with her past and the God of her childhood doesn't seem like the path to freedom. Is letting go the only way to new life, love and a peace that she's not even sure exists?

{Betty Says}
This book has been sitting on my nightstand waiting for me to read it. Recently, I finally picked it up and let me say, I really enjoyed it! I enjoyed learning about Bethany, her past, what her struggles were. I wanted to turn the page and she how relationships would grow and where the story was going to go. I couldn't put the book down once I started reading. The book was fabulous and the best part? The author is continuing the story in a second book...and you can bet your bottom dollar I'm going to read it!

Disclaimer: I was provided a copy of this book for free in return for my review of the novel. All thoughts provided in the review are my own.

A Wonderful Weekend

This weekend was amazing!!!

On Friday, Lee, Lindsay and Parker took off on vacation - and the hubs and I settled into their house! In return for pet-sitting and house-sitting we get a week of privacy from my in-laws, a cool room to sleep in at night (we seriously have the hottest room in the house at his parent's place!), and the ability to listen to the TV at a reasonable level! It's been great to hang out, not have anyone bothering us and to just relax.

Our way of enjoying this weekend was watching movies...and watch movies we did, here's a quick review of them!

{ The Artist }

I REALLY enjoyed this. The story was so good and I loved the history of it. And it was so unique for a movie today. If you haven't seen it, please spend the $1.20 at Redbox and see it!

{ 21 Jump Street }

Ok. I nearly peed from laughing so hard during this move. Seriously, hilarious. I will be soon owning it so that I can watch it and watch it over and over! Also, it was filmed in New Orleans and they didn't work too hard to disguise it was New Orleans (at one point I could pick out the outline of the Superdome!) So, that made it extra fun to watch! This is another must see!!!

{ Gone }

This was a movie I had been interested in seeing. It seemed like the psychological thriller type of movie that I just might enjoy. And, I like Amanda Seyfried in the the movies I've seen her in. So, I was interested in seeing it. I ended up enjoying it and found it not too be overly predictable and they did a good job of keeping you guessing what's going to happen. I enjoyed it.

{ Sherlock Holmes }

Hubs and I both wanted to see this and we both enjoyed it a lot! And we agreed during this movie that Robert Downy Jr. plays Sherlock Holmes like Iron Man. Since I like Iron Man, that is definitely somethings I can get behind!

{ Magic Mike }

On Friday before work I caught the first showing of Magic Mike. And was I ever glad I did! Now, I was kind of surprised, there really was a decent (if somewhat predictable plot) to this movie. The acting wasn't bad, and you get to see Channing Tatum there really anything to complain about? Now, I did have one minor disappointment: It was advertised as stripping with some plot not as plot with some stripping. Not that that was a bad thing, just different from what I expected is all! I actually really enjoyed this movie and was glad I went to see it! (Note, this was the first thing I saw this weekend, but I saw it without hubs and decided to hold it for last!)

We also watched Madagascar and Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa to prepare to see Madagascar: Europe's Most Wanted this week. And we ended the weekend with me blogging and us watching Inglorious Basterds. Like I said, we watched a few movies this weekend!

How was your weekend? Did you do anything good?

Have a good week!!

Sunday Social {vol 4}

Sunday Social

Today is Social Sunday, the Fashion edition!

What is your favorite store to shop at?
I love Ann Taylor. There is ALWAYS something I want there. But, I'm not a big fan of The's not as good!

If you could afford anything and everything, which designer would you covet?
For me, it's all about shoes...Manolo Blahnik, Louboutin, Jimmy Choo.

Must have closet staple?
Light, flowy, skirts and dresses! They are great for summer...and the long ones, keep me from having to shave all the time too!

Favorite kind of shoes? (Brand or Type)
Brand: Nine West and Antonio Milani for what I can afford! Those two are staples in my shoe closet!
Type: Ballet flats. They are so comfy and convenient! I wear them all the time!

Best clothing deal you've ever gotten?
Probably the $120 velvet 3/4 length jacket I got at Ann Taylor for $10. I'm pretty proud of that. But there might be something better because I spend a lot of time in the clearance section, so I get some good deals!

Style you would love to try?
Smoking shoes!
