Book Club Friday

Today I'm linking up for Book Club Friday to tell you about a book I've read recently. I've been wanting to do more reading and recently I've been doing somewhat better with it! Yay! Today, we're going for a little Nicholas Sparks. I LOVE reading Nicholas Sparks!

First of all, I specifically bought the not movie version cover of this book. As attractive as Zac Efron is here, I would rather him not grace the cover of my book. I like to imagine my characters freely and having to see the actor every time I open the book only hinders me from letting my imagination design the character. Do I sound like a book snob or what?

{The Back Cover Says:}
After U.S. marine Logan Thibault finds a photograph of a smiling young woman buried in the dirt during his tour of duty in Iraq, he experiences a sudden streak of luck, winning poker games and even surviving deadly combat. Only is best friend, Victor, seems to have an explanation for his good fortune: the photograph - his lucky charm.

Back home in Colorado,  Thibault can't seem to get the woman in the photograph out of his mind and sts out on a journey across the country to find her. But Thibault is caught off guard by the strong attraction he feels when his search leads him to Elizabeth, a divorced mother in North Carolina with a young son - and he keeps the story of the photo, and his luck, a secret. As he and Elizabeth embark upon a passionate love affair, Thibault's secret will soon threaten to tear them apart, destroying not only their love but also their lives.

Filled with tender romance and terrific suspense, The Lucky one is an unforgettable story about the surprising paths our lives often take and the power of fate to guide us to true and everlasting love.

{Betty Says:}
An easy, great read. Nicholas Sparks captivates you and then spins a story you can't put down. I loved the book. Now, I'll admit, there were a couple of changes made to the story for the movie and I may even like them but the book was still fabulous. Nicholas Sparks did a great job again! If you like a good love story, a Nicholas Sparks novel, or if you are just looking for a good, easy read, definitely read this. It's amazing.

You've Got a {Photographer} in Me

Last September a very dear friend of mine told me she was pregnant! I was so excited for her and was so ready to have another teeny tiny baby around since my adorable niece was quickly leaving that teeny tiny stage behind! All of these babies really help me fend off my baby fever and I enjoy spending time with them so much!

My friend, Jennifer, unfortunately had to spend the majority of her pregnancy on bed rest but I know for her it was a small price to pay for the healthy, full term, adorable baby that was the result! Now, little Isabella has been here for 6 whole weeks but I am backtracking a bit to share with you the maternity photos I took for Jennifer.

Since she was on bed rest and not supposed to be out of bed too much, we took the photos around her house. I was so glad to be able to do this for her. One, because I love her and love getting to help her out any way I can, and two, because I love any chance to flex my photography muscles! Photography is definitely my passion and favorite hobby and I love having the chance to pursue it. Now, I'll get to showing you the photos!

When I was taking pictures I wanted to make sure I got a photo where she spent so much of her pregnancy, in her bed! I thought this was perfect!

The obligatory belly shot!

Her front yard proved perfect for taking these photos!

The whole happy family. It was funny trying to get this picture, they would kiss and their son would laugh and then they would tell him not to laugh. I finally just had to tell them, let him laugh, when I was finally able to show them the picture they understood...ahh, the things you see and think about when you're the photographer!

The happy, excited family!

I included both the color and black and white photos because I love the color photos and she loves black and white photos. (All of the professional photos in her house are in black and white.) So, I made sure to edit them in black and white, but as the photographer, I also had to edit them in color!

So, those are the photos I took for her. I also took photographs for her when she delivered Isabella and I'll eventually share those with you...there's just a few {hundred!} photos to go through for that...Maybe we'll all see them next year!

Oh, and if you're a photographer yourself, any constructive criticism is always welcomed! I love anything that helps me improve my photography!

And...the title is a nod to the song from Toy Story, You've Got a Friend in Me...get it?

Oh, How Pinteresting Wednesday {vol 14}

Today I'm linking up for Oh, How Pinteresting Wednesday!!

Sadly, I don't have an iPhone, so I can't take a screen shot for this, instead, you will get my typed out version. This series of text messages occurred on Saturday afternoon between my coworker Anna and myself.

Anna: Just as an FYI: I hate you.
Me: Why? What did I do?
Anna: I have spent the last 90 minutes bumbling around pinterest...thanks to you.
Me: LOL. Sorry...not! Isn't it fabulous?
Anna: Terrible. I've been giggling to myself and oohing.

Don't we all remember this moment? In honor of this, I must share this pin:

Evolution of My Hair

Y'all, I have thick hair. Like, hair so thick when I go to the salon, they always comment on how thick my hair is. Because of this, I have been faithful to my short haircut since high school. Once I brought my hair above my shoulders I've never looked back.

Then, in May of 2010, hubs and I decided to get married and I started growing my hair out. And, it kind of just stuck for awhile. I finally got it past the aggravating "my hair is always stuck in my collar" phase so, I kept growing it out. And this winter, I finally reached the maximum length I would allow my hair to grow. It reached down to the middle of my back.

My hair at Christmas time...SO long.
But, I'd had enough, so it was time to cut it. So, I went shoulder length.

My hair on my birthday (and my super cute niece!)
And that was pretty good. Easier, and I liked it. But, everyone has their go-to haircut. The haircut they know how to style in minutes, takes the least effort but they still feel fabulous in. For me, it's a bob stacked in the back. It's what works for me. For my thick hair, it's about the least amount of hair I can have without going to a pixie cut. So, last night, I did it. I gave up my long (for me) hair and chopped it off!

And here's my hair today!
Yeah...trying to take a picture of myself equates a funny face...sorry!
I'm so happy to have it short again! This is where I'm happiest with my hair and I'm so glad to have done it. I do find it funny though, everyone else is more attached to my long hair than I am...the girl cutting my hair was sad to cut it...I thought it was funny!

Now, onto a long day...eye doctors appointment in the A.M. And I work a long day today - 1pm to 8pm (I usually work 1pm-5pm.) Y'all have a great day - I know I am going to try my hardest!

Sunday Social {vol 3}

Sunday Social

This week I'm linking up on time to Sunday Social for a discussion on music! Yippee!

{one}
What is your all-time favorite song?

Hum...this is hard. I like SO many songs. But, I'm going to go with Alan Jackson's Chatahoochee. I have fond memories of this song. Matter of fact, it's mine and my dad's song! I can remember listening to this song really loud as a kid and dancing around the living room. It's a favorite for sure!

{two}
What is your favorite singer or band?

Taylor Swift! She's so cute and I just love her music!!

{three}
What is your theme song/song that best describes your life?

I guess I would pick Christina Perri's A Thousand Years is it perfect? No. But does it make me fall more in love with my husband each time I hear it, yes. And that, that means a lot!

{four}
What songs put you in a  good mood?

When I'm having a bad day, there is one song that always. Always puts a smile on my face. Just watch it and see if you aren't smiling by the end.

{five}
What is your favorite road trip music?
For me, a good country music playlist can get you far! But pretty much anything you can dance to in the car is a winner!

{six}
What song are you embarrassed to admit you love?
Hum...there's nothing that I can think of...I'm a pretty open book when it comes to music...

Sunday Social {vol 2}

Sunday Social

Although it's a week late, I really wanted to link up the Social Sunday post I missed. I saw that I could still link up and decided it was time to answer the questions and put them out there for everyone to enjoy! This week the topic is movies and I love movies!!

{one}
Favorite movie of all time?

Gone With The Wind
This is by far my favorite movie. It's just such an amazing story and I just can't help but love it. I don't watch it often, but I think that helps keep it special!

{two}
Favorite movie quote?
This is very hard to pick! But, I'm going to have to go with the following quote from Inglorious Basterds. The hubs and I use this quote often in conversation.

Source: google.com.au via Betty on Pinterest

Lt. Aldo Raine: Well, I speak the most Italian, so I'll be your escort. Donowitz speaks the second most, so he'll be your Italian cameraman. Omar speaks third most, so he'll be Donny's assistant.
Pfc. Omar Ulmer: I don't speak Italian.
Lt. Aldo Raine: Like I said, third best. Just keep your fuckin' mouth shut. In fact, why don't you start practicing, right now!

{three}
Best movie to watch for a girls night in?
This one, I don't have an answer for. I watch SO many movies with hubs that it isn't funny. And, he pretty much watches anything. He even offered to go see Magic Mike with me if I wanted company when I saw it. I will prefer watching that alone (does hubs really need to watch me drool all over myself during that...definitely not!) So, when I hang out with my girlfriends, we don't really watch movies...I can only think of a few movies I've watched with other people and without the hubs in 5 years...I guess we're weird...

{four}
Best break-up movie?
This is another one I don't have an answer to. I'm very lucky to have never had a real break up in my life. I dated a boy in high school for 6 weeks...and dumped him when he wanted to take another girl to homecoming when I was grounded...I didn't feel too much of a loss there...Funny story though, my Dad must have been pretty irked that this boy treated me that way because after that happened, my dad ungrounded me for the length of the dance. And my parents NEVER backed out on punishment. Matter of fact, the only other time was when there was $600 on the line. So, no break up movies for me...

{five}
Favorite celeb eye candy?

Two Words. Channing. Tatum.

{six}
Which movie star's closet would you want to raid?

Reese Witherspoon. She always looks cute in a totally accessible sort of way. I think I could actually pull her closet off!

Blog Star: Hi, I'm Betty!

So, today I'm linking up with Mrs. Monologues for her Blog Star link up.

In my Social Sunday post, I told you that  being blog famous is not a goal for my blog. But, just because I don't want to be blog famous doesn't mean that I don't feel like a total {blog} rockstar here at my blog! So, today I'm showing off my awesomeness!

For anyone who might be new to my blog here's the important things to know!

{one}
I'm Betty (obviously, from the title...) and I'm married to the love of my life. Originally known on this blog as Mr. B he's more affectionately known now as "the hubs" or "hubs." We've been married for a year and a half and are currently living with his parents. The main focus of my blog is living life as newlyweds!

{two}
I have the most adorable niece ever!! Seriously, this girl is awesome! I take all sorts of pictures and always enjoy seeing her which is pretty much every Wednesday. She's seriously the cutest kid ever!

{three}
I have an addiction to Pinterest and every Wednesday I link-up with The Vintage Apple for Oh, How Pinteresting Wednesday. It's tons of fun and currently, my posts are themed. Here's an example from last week.

{four}
I recently answered six awesome questions about blogging in my Social Sunday post! Check it out to find out the meaning to the universe - or at least how this blog became known as Unscripted Journey. Did you know this isn't the first name this blog has had?

{five}
Know I'm a nail polish addict. That is all.

{six}
I'm a Texan transplanted to New Orleans. Did you know that ranch isn't the number one condiment everywhere? Who knew?

{seven}
I love photography. I have a Nikon D3100 that is my bestest camera ever! I've taken some pretty awesome photos and have found an area of photography that really speaks to me.

{eight}
I'm currently (as in, when it's not summer) in college. I recently changed majors from Civil Engineering to Sociology. Yep. Quite a change. You can read more about that here.

{nine}
Feel free to find me on:
Twitter | Pinterest | Instagram

{ten}
If y'all post some really nice stuff, I might be able to convince the hubs to let me show you his puffer fish impersonation - it's awesome!

Welcome to my blog, I hope you join me as I blog my life!

Social Sunday {vol. 1}

Sunday Social

Today I'm linking up with Neely at A Complete Waste of Makeup for Sunday Social! It should be a lot of fun. Today, you get to learn a few things about me and my blog! I hope you enjoy!

{one}
How did you come up with your blog name?
Originally my blog was named It Takes Two. It was something to use that was available so I could hurry up and get started! Then, after a little over a year of blogging, I just wasn't happy with it anymore. It wasn't me. So, I started thinking about a new blog name and came up with Unscripted Journey and I knew it was right! It was perfect! Unscripted refers to how life never goes as we planned and how we can't control everything. Life is unscripted. And Journey refers to a couple of things. Life is a journey. My life isn't about where I'm going but instead more about how I get there. And, I love to travel, so it sort of refers to that as well. So, that's where my blog name came from!

{two}
What is your favorite thing about blogging?
My favorite thing about blogging is the world it opens up to me. I get to see so many other view points, people, ways of doing things and places all because of blogging. I have friends in other countries now and think it's absolutely amazing! I love getting to know people by blogging it's just amazing!

{three}
What is one thing you have discovered because of blogging and now can't live without?
One is actually a person, Kayleigh at A Million Little Somethings. It's like I met my friend soul mate. We have so much in common and I know I have a great friend in her! Actual thing (not a person)? Instagram! I have so much photographing stuff with my phone now! Anything is open to be photographed...even my vitamins...what have I become?

{four}
Facebook or Twitter? Why?
Twitter. I love the conversations I have with other people on Twitter! Yesterday? Me and Neely discussed the finer things in life - like Magic Mike and Channing Tatum. Not to mention, I get to see everyone post pictures of their pretty nail polish!

{five}
If one celeb read your blog who would you want it to be?
Wow. This one is hard. Channing Tatum and Ryan Gosling were both serious candidates. But, I think I'm going to have to say Scarlett Johansson, I have total girl crush on her! Also in the running was Rachel McAdams. I really like her movies and think she would be cool to meet. And, I thought about putting Tom Hanks on the ballot as well...So, really any one of those people could start reading my blog any day now and make me blog famous.

{six}
What is something you want people to know about your blog?
That my blogging goal (despite the comment above) is not to become blog famous. It seems that there are a lot of challenges that come with being blog famous. I love what I have to offer now and I like not having the pressure that comes with being a large blog. I would be honored if I had hundreds of followers but, I've had the same number of followers for months and I'm ok with it. This is my blog, it represents my life and I'm happy with whatever it is - and whatever it becomes!

Friday's Fancies - Short & Sweet

Today I'm linking up with {av} at Long Distance Loving for Friday's Fancies. The theme for the week is shorts and I was super inspired and bring to you 3 different outfits - with one pair of shorts at their center! I'm in love with these outfits and wish I could have all three of them in my closet now! So here they are!

Friday's Fancies Short & Sweet

These red shorts are just so exciting and I would just so love to have them to wear. And I really like the versatility they have - they would be so much fun! This was interesting to put these outfits together. I'm kind of surprised at how alike and different they are at the same time.Similar leather was used in all of the purses. The shoes had some of the same color leather in them. Even the nail polishes were in the same fun, bright family. (Although none will compare to that neon green!) I could definitely see hanging out with friends going on in all of these. My favorite touch though may be the big floppy hat in the last outfit!

Well, I hope y'all have a great weekend! I have work tomorrow (which really won't be that bad) and then I'll spend Sunday relaxing with the hubs! Who knows what else this weekend may have in store...maybe a movie tonight after work? We'll see!
