Small Snapshots: Summer

Yes, 2 Small Snapshots photos in one day. It's a great day for photography here at It Takes 2!

And, of course, I'm linking up with Carissa again.

This prompt is actually the one before the Shadows prompt. This prompt has all new photos and that makes me happy! I took these pictures while I was doing some summery things. And, I pulled a couple of photos from very recent archives just because I like them! But, first, the two new photos.

Nothing says summer to me more than activities outside. (Although around here I don't do much outside in the summer during the day...it's just too hot!) But, still, there's the idea that summer means being outside. So, the first is a picture of the blueberry field I went to and picked blueberries at.

And, more than anything, what says summer to me is swimming. The summer between my junior and senior year of high school saw me at the pool nearly daily. We lived 4 houses from the neighborhood pool and I walked on there with my sister every day. We would only go home for lunch.

And...a confession...and you can't harass me about this whatever happens! We watched the Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen film It Takes Two. Every. Day. It has such memorable lines as "Rough is a broken nail, darling what I'm having is a trainwreck." and "I'm Happy. Don't I look Happy? This is me happy! See. Happy, Happy, happy, happy, happy, happy, happy!" We would wake up, eat breakfast, watch It Takes Two shower and be at the pool when it opened. (Oh, and I feel a need to clarify, the title of my blog did NOT come from a Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen film. In NO WAY was I thinking of this movie when I titled this blog. On the other hand, I will admit that the title of this song most assuredly came from the SONG It Takes Two. The Marvin Gaye song It Takes Two. So, there you go, you just learned a lot today about me. And my blog.)

So, without saying anything more, here's my next summer picture.

And, here's a swimming photo from the archives.

And, one final photo. Something so summer. So American. Baseball.

I hope you enjoyed these pictures too! And I hope everyones summers are going great!

Oh, and I just realized it was Thursday...I've been thinking was Friday. It made my day! I have so many things I want to get done and I'm glad to know I have another day to do those things! This might be the first time in my life this situation has made me happy...weird...

Small Snapshots: Shadow

Today I am linking up (late...ugh!) at Kissed A Frog for Small Snapshots. Our prompt this week was Shadows! Now, I haven't taken many pictures this week AND I completely forgot about the prompt. So, I'm doing somethingI had hoped not to do again for awhile...pull a photo out of the archives.

This is one of my favorite photos I've taken. I took it at the Thomas Jefferson Memorial in December when I was on my honeymoon! First, there's just something I love about ol' T.J. (as I needed to call him when we were at the memorial). Well, his writing of the Declaration of Independence kind of endears him to me. And, I also like that he was responsible for the Louisiana Purchase. But, what really gave me my love for ol' T.J. was Monticello. From the first time I ever saw a picture of Monticello it really became love.

I really like the architecture of Monticello and so it's only appropriate that the architecture of ol' T.J.'s Memorial provided the shadows for today's photo! (Oh, and hopefully this story helps to forgive the fact that I pulled this photo from the archives!)

I also, pulled another one out of the archives and this is what I found. A Fat City Squirrel (also from our honeymoon). I saw this picture and saw all of the shadows on it and thought it was another good one to add here.

Now, y'all, I don't usually take pictures of the Exotic Wildlife . But, being from the south, I've never seen animals really prepare to go into hibernation. Especially squirrels. I can see those year around. So, these Fat City Squirrels really kind of threw me off and I found them SO cute. So, I grabbed a few pictures just so that I could prove to these southern people that squirrels really could store up food for the winter. So, without further ado (and at the hopes of controlling the length of this post some) here's the squirrel.

Look...his body is as fat as his tail is bushy!
Y'all have a great day, and check out Carissa's blog!

Friday Fancies: Double Date

Double Date

I'm linking up again with {av} of {long distance loving}!

This weekend, a dear friend of mine is traveling over from Leesville and is coming to Baton Rouge. I haven't seen her in like 2 months so Mr. B and I are going to drive the hour to Baton Rouge to spend some time with her and her boyfriend. They are pretty cool people and we always have a blast hanging out. So, when it came time to put together an outfit, it was to go out to dinner our with our friends.

Chances are we will hit up Bonefish Grill and I LOVE their drinks! (YAY!) I'll tell you all about our weekend next week!

Oh, and in other news. Those shoes are Jimmy Choo and when I think Jimmy Choo, I think of Kellie Pickler's song Going Out in Style. I think it's so important to hear this song just once that I'm including a video from youtube for you to check it out!
I hope everyone has a great weekend! I am most definitely!

Blueberry Picking

On Friday last week, I joined a couple of the Mom's from church and their kids and we took a trip to the Northshore. On the Northshore, they have several pick-your-own farms, and we went to Blue Harvest Farms to do some blueberry picking. I was there to just help keep an eye on kids, and for me, that always means take pictures too! (These are wonderfully well-behaved kids. It's very easy to do both!)

After we got there all of the kids were ready to get to blueberry picking, so we went and got our buckets. And we got to picking! It was a lot of fun! They told us only to pick the purple-est of berries and while we could eat some, not to eat too many! It was a great!

The gang arriving at the farm!

3 of the girls walking to the shed to get our buckets!
I just really like this picture!
Blueberries in various stages of ripeness.
Pick the purple ones - not the green or red ones!
A Handful of Berries!

Now, here's a some pictures of us picking blueberries!

After we had picked several gallons of blueberries everyone was tired, hot and ready for lunch. So we packed it in and went to the covered area to eat lunch and the kids played in front of the fan with hula hoops. It was really fun to watch them enjoying themselves so much!

The Girlies posing with the hula hoop!

Hula hooping!
I LOVE the action on this picture!!
It was a lot of fun! I really enjoyed hanging out with everyone and playing with the kids. Oh, and I never complain about a chance to take pictures! Since this I've also made a blueberry pie with some of the blueberries! I'll be posting on that soon!

If you have a pick-your-own farm nearby, check it out! It's a lot of fun.
And here's a link to a site that lists a bunch of pick-your-own farms!

Go try it out for yourself!!

Wee Bit of Me Wednesdays

{one} what color best describes you + why?
Hot Pink. Because it's pink which is feminine and beautiful. But, it's also non-traditional because it's so bright and wonderful!

{two} how have you changed in the past year?
In general, I've become happier with who I am. In a particular instance, I've reached the point where I can hurt other people's feelings to do what's best for me. It took me a long time to get there. And it's a great place to be. (I've been a people pleaser my whole life and couldn't do that. It's awesome to be able to put myself first!)

{three} have you ever had any surgeries?
No. Never. No broken bone. No fractures. Nothing. Ok. Something. I did have my elbow dislocated when I was five or six.

{four} why did you start your blog?
Because I loved the idea. An online journal. And community. It's awesome! I love it!

{five} what are you looking forward to this summer?
Enjoying all of the activities I can. I have been swimming, blueberry picking, baked a blueberry pie (from scratch) and been to a Zephyr's game. I look forward to more of the same!

{six} do you have any family traditions for the 4th of July?
Not really. I do get an Old Navy flag shirt each year. But that's it.

{seven} what’s something new that you’ve tried in the past few months?
Manual settings on my d3100. It's a whole new amazing world of photography that I'm in love with! I really enjoy taking pictures of anything I can!

{eight} what is the perfect a/c temperature?
I like about 73 or 74 during the day at home. It keeps it cool enough for me too enjoy and not be miserable hot. But, that's expensive. So I try to keep it closer to 76 or 77. At night though, we don't hold back. We set the ac on 68. It's perfect!

{nine} what was the last movie you saw in the theater?
Something Borrowed. I really enjoyed it. Now my current goal is to read the books.

{ten} what song do you think everyone should hear at least once?
Hum...that's hard.  I'm going to go with this one...but only because it's REALLY been speaking to me recently. Ask me again in a couple of months and it might be totally different. But, I think this one so encompasses God and his love for us in such a simple way, that it's perfect. It's definitely one that people should hear.
