Movie Review: The Gruffalo

Short Film (Animated)
According to the Academy, "a short film is defined as an original motion picture that has a running time of 40 minutes or less, including all credits. This excludes from consideration such works as: 1)previews and advertising films, 2) sequences from feature-length fils such as credit sequences, 3) un aired episodes of established TV series, 4) unsold TV series pilots." The Academy further defines an Animated Short film as being "created by using a frame-by-fram technique, and usually falls into one of the two general fields of animation: character or abstract...Documentary short subjects that are animated may be submitted in either the animated short film category or the documentary short subject category, but not in both."
Movie Review:
This was extremely cute. The story line was nice, well developed, and just the right mix of everything. The story follows a little mouse that's trying to get some lunch and while on his way to the desired tree he meets a fox, an owl, a snake and finally a gruffalo, all of which think he looks pretty taste. We see him talk his way out of becoming lunch with a few laughs a long the way. I really enjoyed it and hope to find a way to maybe see it again. Yep. That good. I give this an A+.
Short Film (Animated) Review:
I REALLY enjoyed this. the animation was great. The story, again, was well developed. And, at 26 minutes, it felt like a short movie. I enjoyed watching it and it was memorable, in a good way. This one definitely deserves its nomination!

Probably the best of the five when you consider for animation and consistency. "Day & Night" was probably more "orginal" of and idea, but I think I enjoyed "The Gruffalo" more because it was 26 minutes long and had a more complex story than "Day & Night". I wouldn't be upset of either this or "Day & Night" took home the Oscar, but I think this is a little more deserving.
